RunwayML Launches Gen-4 AI Model
Runway’s Gen-4 represents a major leap in AI-powered content creation, introducing a new level of temporal and spatial consistency across scenes. This next-generation model is designed to maintain coherent characters, objects, and environments across different shots while preserving precise cinematographic elements—without requiring fine-tuning or retraining.

Technical Capabilities:
Single-Reference Character Consistency – Generate the same character across multiple lighting conditions, camera angles, and environments with just one input image.
Scene Continuity & Multi-Angle Coverage – Define keyframe compositions, and Gen-4 ensures seamless object permanence and shot-to-shot coherence.
Physics-Aware Motion Generation – Simulate realistic object interactions and natural character movements, advancing toward universal generative models that understand real-world physics.
High-Fidelity Style and Subject Control – Adhere to specific visual styles, moods, and framing instructions while enabling flexible regeneration from various perspectives.
Generative VFX (GVFX) Pipelines – Seamlessly integrate AI-generated elements into live-action, animation, or traditional VFX workflows, reducing the need for costly reshoots and post-production fixes.
Today we're introducing Gen-4, our new series of state-of-the-art AI models for media generation and world consistency. Gen-4 is a significant step forward for fidelity, dynamic motion and controllability in generative media.
