OpenAI Launches o3 and o4-mini

OpenAI has launched o3 and o4-mini, advanced AI reasoning models leveraging reinforcement learning to excel in complex tasks like coding, math, and visual analysis, positioning them as powerful tools for developers and researchers.

The Details:

  • On April 16, 2025, OpenAI introduced o3 and o4-mini, with o3 achieving 87.7% on the GPQA Diamond science benchmark and 69.1% on SWE-bench coding, surpassing o4-mini’s 68.1% and Claude 3.7 Sonnet’s 62.3%.

  • Both models use a “private chain of thought” for deliberate reasoning, autonomously integrating tools like web browsing, Python execution, and image analysis to handle tasks like interpreting blurry scientific diagrams.

  • o4-mini, optimized for low latency, matches o3’s pricing at $1.10/$4.40 per million input/output tokens, while o3 costs $10/$40, available via Chat Completions and Responses APIs.

  • Replacing o1 and o3-mini, these models are accessible to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users, enhancing multimodal reasoning with native image-thinking capabilities.

Kling AI Unveils KLING 2.0 and KOLORS 2.0

Chinese AI startup Kling AI has rolled out major upgrades to its creative tools, unveiling KLING 2.0 Master for video and KOLORS 2.0 for images—bringing improved prompt accuracy, more lifelike results, and advanced editing features.

Here’s what’s new:

  • KLING 2.0 Master can now interpret prompts with sequential actions and facial expressions, producing cinematic videos with smoother motion and more natural pacing.

  • KOLORS 2.0 supports over 60 visual styles, generating highly realistic images with better control over elements, color schemes, and subject placement.

  • The image tool also introduces inpainting to add or modify elements and a restyle option to apply new aesthetics to existing content.

  • Additionally, Kling’s 1.6 video model is getting an upgrade with a multi-element video editor, allowing users to add, swap, or remove video elements directly from text prompts.

OpenAI’s Social Media App

OpenAI is reportedly exploring the idea of launching a social network that could tap into ChatGPT’s huge user base, potentially positioning itself as a competitor to platforms like X and Meta—while also offering OpenAI a valuable stream of real-time data for training its models.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Sources speaking to The Verge say OpenAI has built an internal prototype for a social feed that highlights ChatGPT’s image generation features.

  • The project is still in its early phases, but CEO Sam Altman has been quietly gathering outside opinions on the concept.

  • It’s still uncertain whether the product will become a standalone app, an integration within ChatGPT, or whether it will launch at all.

  • In the past, Altman has joked about Meta’s assistant-focused app by saying, “ok fine, maybe we’ll do a social app.”
